About
CAAIRO — the Centre for the Assessment of Artificial Intelligence Risk — is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to researching and communicating the risks posed by artificial intelligence. We are not a commercial consultancy: CAAIRO does not sell services, does not accept paid client work, and has no financial relationship with the AI companies or technologies we assess.
Non-profit status: CAAIRO is a not-for-profit organisation. We do not sell services or accept paid client engagements; our research is funded by grants, donations & sponsors and publications are for public benefit.
Our Mission
As artificial intelligence systems become more capable and more widely deployed, understanding their risks is a matter of public interest, not private profit. CAAIRO exists to produce rigorous, independent research on AI risk and to make that research available to anyone — policymakers, journalists, researchers, and the public — free of charge.
What We Do
- Independent research papers examining the technical, legal, and societal risks of advancing AI systems.
- Plain-language explainers that make AI safety concepts understandable to non-specialist audiences.
- Evidence-based recommendations shared with policymakers and regulators, free of commercial interest.
- Every paper we publish is free to read, download, cite, and share.
